Debra Katz, MD is a Senior National Medical Director for Optum Behavioral Health Solutions Medicaid business.
In this role, Dr. Katz champions clinical best practices, innovation, and recovery-oriented
consumer centric care for all specialty populations like those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Developmental Disabilities, and Serious Mental Illness.
She develops and oversees health care initiatives to improve the quality of care for our Medicaid consumers.
Prior to taking on her current role, Dr. Katz served as Regional Medical Director for Optum’s public sector behavioral health programs managed out of the Houston Care Advocacy Center. She joined OHBS (formerly UBH) in 2004. Before that she worked as the Medical Director for Child and Adolescent Services at the Mental Health and Mental Retardation Authority (MHMRA) of Harris County, TX.
Dr. Katz holds both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Medical Degree from The George Washington University in Washington, DC. She also has specialty certifications in Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry from The Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Katz is a licensed physician in the states of Texas and Florida.
