Violinist Emily Kalish is committed to bringing audiences thoughtful, imaginative, and emotionally honest interpretations of the classical repertoire as well as new works written by 21st century composers.
After earning a Bachelor’s degree from the Hartt School in Connecticut, where she studied with Katie Lansdale, Emily moved to New York for her Master’s degree at Manhattan School of Music, where her teacher was Burton Kaplan. Since graduating, she has made New York her home and has performed and taught throughout the tri-state area. She has played under the baton of conductors Kurt Masur, JoAnn Faletta, Gerard Schwartz, and Robert Franz, and currently holds a position with the Binghamton Philharmonic. A dedicated teacher, she is on the faculty Concordia Conservatory of Music and Art in Bronxville, NY.
Emily recently started playing with Deb Oh and the Cavaliers, a soulful rock band based here in New York. They have played at Joe’s Pub, Mercury Lounge, Brooklyn Bowl, and Rockwood Music Hall, as well as Hard Rock Cafe in Boston. You can hear her on DOATC’s album “Hieroglyphs” and new single “Vessels.”
