Alisa Thorne was born in New York City and grew up in Westchester County. She attended Yale College followed by Harvard Medical School. She completed her residency in Anesthesiology at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and joined the Anesthesiology Department at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the faculty of the Cornell University Medical College in 1986. She has been the Inaugural Medical Director of Ambulatory Anesthesiology at Memorial for 25 years and is Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology at Cornell. Her past board directorships have included: Peer Health Exchange, TheatreworksUSA, and The Grenfell Association of America. Alisa is married to Charles Thorne, MD, a Plastic Surgeon in New York. Her interests include: karate (black belt), tennis, theatre and music, especially Bluegrass. The Doctors Thorne have a daughter, Wells Thorne, who is a senior at Yale.
