Trumpeter Gabriel Medd is Our 2025 Spotlight Artist!

Music for Autism is thrilled to announce trumpeter Gabriel Medd as our 2025 Spotlight Artist. Gabriel is an exceptionally talented, inspiring, and spirited performer who has captivated our audiences with his dynamic artistry and heartfelt connection to his listeners.

Music for Autism names one Spotlight Artist annually. It is our singular distinction to an artist of extraordinary musicianship and dedication to the families we serve. Music for Autism began the Spotlight Artist program in 2009 to recognize gifted artists who have made a significant commitment to supporting the work of M4A and aiding in the organization’s expansion across the U.S.

“Watching and listening to live music is, in my view, one of the most profoundly ‘human’ experiences we can share,” said Gabriel. “It’s an open, ever-evolving conversation between performer and audience, celebrating the full range of emotions—joy, sorrow, humor, and everything in between. Before my involvement with Music for Autism, I hadn’t considered how the rigid decorum of traditional performances might exclude many music lovers from experiencing this beautiful exchange in person. Music for Autism breaks down those barriers, stripping live music of its aloofness and creating a space where audiences can embrace the beauty of music without limitations. Their audiences are among the most responsive, soulful, and celebratory I’ve ever encountered. If music is the ultimate expression of love, inclusivity, and humanity, then a Music for Autism concert is the purest form of live music anyone could hope to experience.”

Hailing from Iowa City, Iowa, Gabriel is a jazz trumpeter whose style blends technical brilliance with soulful expression. A graduate of The Juilliard School, Gabriel has performed at renowned venues like Jazz at Lincoln Center and The Monterey Jazz Festival, and his artistry has been celebrated across the globe. His commitment to music education and accessibility shines through in his collaborations with youth programs and his dedication to sharing the joy of music with diverse audiences.

“Gabriel’s virtuosity and warmth make him an exceptional ambassador for Music for Autism,” said Robert Accordino, Music for Autism US Founder and Chair of the Board. “His performances are both dazzling and heartfelt, and his ability to connect with audiences of all ages and abilities is truly remarkable. We are overjoyed to honor him as our 2025 Spotlight Artist.”

“Gabe’s passion and artistry make him an ideal fit to be our 2025 Spotlight Artist,” said Ryan Gardner, Music for Autism Artist Manager. “Through his dedication to Music for Autism and his connection with our audience, he has continued to create memorable moments that both inspire and uplift us all.”

Concert Coordinator Linda Blacken added, “Gabe’s performances always bring joy to our audiences. Smiles and dancing abound from the moment he puts his trumpet to his lips. And it’s clear that Gabe is just as delighted to be present and sharing in this experience with them.” Matt Wilson, Concert MC noted, “Gabe imbues his trumpet with personality and humor. His musicality builds bridges of delight for his audiences and we are so fortunate to have him share  his artistry with us.”

We are thrilled to bring Gabriel’s remarkable talent and passion to our families through free, interactive concerts that can be enjoyed by all. With the continuation of our virtual concert offerings, even more audiences across the United States can experience the magic of Gabriel’s performances.
