Lisa received a B.A. cum laude in English from Princeton University in 1980 and a J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School in 1983. After four years in private practice, she joined the United States Department of Justice as a career trial attorney in 1987. She is currently Senior Trial Counsel in the Federal Programs Branch of the Civil Division. During the past 20 years she has defended federal statutes, regulations, policies, and programs against Constitutional and other challenges in complex litigation representing billions of dollars of liability for the United States. Her clients have included the Departments of Defense, State, and Justice, as well as the Supreme Court and the President. She has more than 40 published federal cases, and several of her cases have reached the Supreme Court.
