Dr. Angela Diaz, Valerie Goldfein and Chesa Boudin were recently recognized for their accomplishments in medicine, philanthropy and writing, respectively.

Music for Autism Board Member Dr. Angela Diaz, the Jean C. and James W. Crystal Professor of Pediatrics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Director of the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center, was recently elected to the Institute of Medicine. Membership in this association is considered one of the highest honors within the fields of health and medicine. The institute recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and commitment to service.

Board Member Valerie Goldfein was honored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals at their 2008 National Philanthropy Day as Mount Sinai Hospital’s honoree. She is the Founder of Woman to Woman, which is a peer to peer survivor volunteer support program for women newly diagnosed with gynecological cancers and their families at Mount Sinai. She has also been a constant supporter of Mount Sinai and a generous supporter of the launch of Music for Autism in the United States.

Junior Board Member Chesa Boudin’s autobiographical memoir, Gringo: A Coming-of-Age in Latin America, published by Scribner, has earned rave reviews from notable authors including Noam Chomsky who wrote, “This marvelous voyage of personal discovery provides a vivid portrait of the richness and diversity of Latin America, its wonders and suffering, the courage and irrepressible spirit of its people, as they are revealed to a thoughtful and sensitive eye during the most exciting and hopeful decade since the European conquests.”
